Abstract

In order to optimize the composition of anesthetic remedies we analyzed anesthetics, which are widely used for local anesthesia not only therapeutic protocols of Ukrainian dentists, but also of the Union of Independent States.

During examination of therapeutic protocols with various dosage forms for topical anesthesia it was investigated that the use of most injectable drugs has several drawbacks: risk of infection, due to the mechanical manipulation directly into the bloodstream, excessive mechanical injury in most cases, swollen tissues, increased pain reactions and changes in emotional status equilibrium. Thus, the problem of developing of a new longterm form with optimal composition and concentration of active pharmaceutical ingredients is required for effective therapy in dentistry. The solution of this problem opens up new possibilities for an integrated approach to the treatment of periodontal and oral mucosa lesions of various etiologies.

Application of anesthesia with the help of dental films allows anesthetization of terminal nerve endings. These films with anesthetic are used during the treatment of oral mucosa. Despite the fact that the application anesthesia is not always sufficiently effective, the need for surface anesthesia is often caused by a large number of small manipulations that do not require injections of anesthetic.

Introduction of topical anesthetic in the dental medical polymer-based films has a number of advantages when compared with other forms: even contact with the treated surface of the oral mucosa and periodontium, support of therapeutic concentrations, prolonged action, reduce pain and improved emotional condition of the patient. The basis of the film is prepared by polymerization using a film-forming substance: Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose and polyvinyl alcohol - with good adhesive properties. The film has additional excipients: glycerol, Tween 80, polyethylene-400, saccharin - and purified water as a solvent at an appropriate ratio of components.

Standardization of films with Articaine hydrochloride was carried out by technological parameters: solubility, pH potentiometrically before and after drying the polymer film, the establishment of the average mass, elasticity, tensile strength, smooth surface and uniform final moisture content by drying, absence of qualitative and quantitative changes after 1 year storage.

New Application dosage forms in the dental medical films enhances the therapeutic approaches that improves efficiency of the medicinal product, provide patients with qualitative analgesic therapy during the critical time, creates favorable conditions for the treatment of oral mucuos and periodontal diseases and stabilize psycho-emotional condition of patients, reduces the level of anxiety and depression.

Dental films with Articaine allows: application on the oral mucuos and periodontium of active pharmacological ingredient within the appropriate time and the appropriate pharmaco-therapeutic concentrations. This dosage form allows dentists to conduct qualitative analgesic therapy, creates favorable conditions for the treatment of oral mucosa and periodontium and stabilizes the psycho-emotional state of the patient, reducing the level of anxiety and depression of dental patients.
