Abstract. This article presents a predictive assessment of health risks for workers in the footwear industry based on anthropometric approaches. The study included 190 workers from the main production departments of footwear manufacturing enterprises: 112 men (58.95 %) aged 26–64 and 78 women (41.05 %) aged 25–62. The comprehensive anthropometric examination included measurements of height (H, m), body weight (BW, kg), waist circumference (WC, cm), and hip circumference (HC, cm). Anthropometric indicators were applied and calculated for the assessment: classical indicators – body mass index (BMI) and innovative indicators – a body shape index (ABSI), body roundness index (BRI), and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR). Results. BMI increases significantly with longer tenure, regardless of the production unit. Overweight was detected in 35.59–44.12 % of workers, and central obesity of varying degrees was found in 11.76–23.8 % of workers. Visceral obesity was found in 32.14% of men and 64.1 % of women; hidden abdominal obesity with a normal BMI was found in 8.9 % and 23.08 %, respectively. An increased risk of metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance, as assessed by the WHR, was found in 16.94–20.63 % of workers; as assessed by the BRI, it was found in 13.3–34.78 % of men and 22.2–41.67 % of women. The proportion of workers with moderate (15.87–22.03 %), high, and very high (8.47–11.11 %) cardiovascular risk based on the ABSI value was identified. Conclusions. A comprehensive anthropometric study makes it possible to detect early disturbances in metabolic homeostasis even before the clinical manifestation of a disease, thereby creating the conditions for the early implementation of preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative measures. The introduction of anthropometric profile assessment into occupational medicine can be viewed as an important public health tool aimed at extending professional longevity, maintaining a high level of work capacity, and improving the quality of life for Ukraine’s working population.
